11 – 26 AUGUST 2012
Hunt & Darton Cafe and The Forest Cafe
What is Paper Stages?
For Edinburgh 2012, with the generous support of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, we have created a performance space built not of bricks and mortar but paper and ink; a festival contained in the pages of a book co-authored by over 20 Forest Fringe artists, each page of which is a different instruction-based performance for you to perform. Some you’ll need to do on your own, some as part of a group; some may take place in your own home, others out on the streets of the city.
Collecting Your Copy of Paper Stages
In keeping with the spirit of Forest Fringe, this book is free to one and all. The only thing we ask in return is a precious hour of your Edinburgh time to gift to the Forest Café or one of a number of other partner organisations. Simply commit a single hour of your Edinburgh schedule and Paper Stages is yours to enjoy at your leisure.
There are two ways of getting hold of Paper Stages:
1. Head to Hunt&Darton Cafe on St Mary’s Street (near Pleasance Courtyard) and sign-up for an hour of volunteering there.
2. Go straight to the Shmoney website where you can find a list of volunteer tasks, choose one and then do it in your own time, then claim a book from either Hunt&Darton Cafe or the new Forest Cafe space on Tollcross.
Supported by the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
