Zero Hour Bus Tours
A series of postapocalyptic audiojourneys on night buses across London
In the early hours of the morning, Tues 26 – Fri 29 July
Chelsea Town Hall and Liverpool Street Station, London

This is a journey through a ruined landscape. This is rubble and debris and things in dark corners that are probably best not to think about. This is an imagined history or an imagined future. From the top deck you can see all of London as you’ve never seen it before.

The Zero Hour Bus Tours are a series of interlinked audio pieces created by Forest Fringe artists for the N11 Night bus, running from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to Liverpool Street Station between 12am and 3am.

Award winning artist and comedian Kim Noble, co-creator of internationally renowned “Home Sweet Home” Abigail Conway, up and coming writer/artist/academic Hannah Nicklin and co-creator of Stoke Newington International Airport Greg McLaren have each created a 30 minute audiojourney for this route (with two artists creating Eastbound journeys and two creating Westbound journeys) given the same brief – to imagine a postapocalyptic London that might result from the kind of nuclear catastrophe envisioned at the end of Dr Strangelove. The pieces spill from the aural out onto the streets of the city. As you listen and watch from the top deck of the bus you will notice strange fragments of this imaginary world leaking into the quiet landscape of an abandoned city.

The pieces are twinned on alternating nights so that on any night two of them are running simultaneously Eastbound and Westbound. You can choose either to travel from East to West, West to East or do a full round trip in either direction (experiencing both pieces playing that night). The following night there will a different twinning, so that you can complete the challenge of experiencing the full set of four contrasting yet complementary pieces. Seen from above. Shielded by flourescents, protected by cameras.
Come see what it looks like when London has the lights turned out.

If you placed all the flyers in Edinburgh during August end to end, they’d stretch from here to the moon and back. That’s not a fact but it could be true. It’s also not true that there are more flyers in Edinburgh during August than there are millimetres of rain. There are, however, a hell [...]
