Tim Etchells - Summer Specials: EVERYTHING MUST GO

At Forest Fringe Tim Etchells presents a new work in the form of ‘Summer Specials: EVERYTHING MUST GO' a free pamphlet which announces a series of imaginary events and interventions for Edinburgh and elsewhere. Taking place each day through the Forest Fringe season Etchells' provocative virtual programme invites the public to a series of strange talks, staring competitions, bizarre acts, political debates and morbid spectacles, as well as encouraging them to speak to interact with each other and the city around them in new, unexpected ways.

Tim Etchells (1962) is an artist and a writer based in the UK. He has worked in a wide variety of contexts, notably as the leader of the world renowned performance group Forced Entertainment and in collaboration with a range of visual artists, choreographers, and photographers. His work ranges from performance to video, photography, text projects, installation and fiction. His first novel The Broken World, which takes to form of a guide to an imaginary computer game.was published by Heinemann in 2008 and is out in paperback from September 2009.
Etchells has exhibited work at Sketch (London), Netherlands Media Art Institute (Amsterdam), Sparwasser HQ (Berlin), Art Sheffield 2008, ArtFutures (Bloomberg SPACE, London), The Centre for Book Arts, Canada and Exit Art (all New York), Kunsthaus Graz and Manifesta 7 (2008) in Rovereto, Italy. He is currently Legacy: Thinker in Residence (2009-2010) at Tate Research and LADA in London. Future projects include participation in the Goteborg Bienale as well as solo gallery shows in 2010 at Gasworks (London) and Kunstlerhaus Bremen.
