Kieron Maguire, Robert Parkinson (Shunt) and Special Guests present a series of short pieces inspired by our poetic interaction with the natural world. Avant-Garde Scored
Friday 28, As part of Forest Fringe's Goodbye Cabaret
Three musicians create semi-improvised scores on viola, dulcimer, flamenco guitar and live electronics for films spanning eight decades of avant-garde cinema. The 45-minute programme includes surrealist classics by Man Ray, Jan Svankmajer and David Lynch, the “rhythmic documentary” of Geoffrey Jones, contemporary single-shot “video paintings” and the finale - a film that came to define the avant-garde - Luis Bunuel & Salvador Dali's 'Un Chien Andalou'.
Kieron Maguire provided all the musical accompaniment to the animation of the Paper Cinema at Forest Fringe last year.
